What Type of shoot can I do with you?

Basic Portrait Shoot – This is the most simple type of shoot. Just show up with four or five different outfits you want to be photographed in and you will get some really beautiful photographs. These shoots are suitable for model portfolios. I mostly just do these shoots for practice.

Themed Pin-Up Shoot – Based on 1950s Pin-ups. These shoots are mildly sexy and involve a theme with a costume. This is probably my favorite style of photography. I do not have a costume wardrobe. If you own some costumes, vintage clothes or vintage lingerie, let me know what you have.

Swimsuit Shoot – Pretty much self-exclamatory. If you want to do a swimsuit shoot, you need a pretty decent figure. I actually like one-piece swimsuits even though they are out of style.

Boudoir or Intimates Shoot – Classy lingerie pictures.

Fine Art Shoot – The goal here is to produce a photograph that is a work of art with a total emphasis on beauty. These shoots require a bit of planning and can involve some implied nudity.

Let me know which of the above types of shoots you are interested in.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Just give me a call at 512-699-4557 or shoot an email to austinbeautyphotography@gmail.com.

How many photos will I get?

For TF shoots you will receive a minimum of 10 high quality retouched digital photographs. Often I will retouch many more. If you have nice skin that doesn’t require a lot of retouch you could get as many as 60  but you will always get a minimum of 10 and usually around 20. Below are examples of retouched photographs.

How will I receive my finished photographs?

Once the photographs have been retouched, small versions suitable for internet use (such as MySpace,  FaceBook, ModelMayhem, etc.) will be emailed directly to you.

Download instructions will be emailed to you for the full size images. The full size images are extremely high resolution and suitable for poster printing size.

Can I have the un-retouched photographs on CD or DVD?

As a general rule, no. Proof images require special software to view. It’s possible but time consuming to convert them to a file format most computers can understand. Plus most photographers like to only give out their best photographs and not the mediocre ones.

If you really want copies of all the proof images, I will burn them on DVD for you for $100.00 fee. You are however already getting the best images from the shoot at no cost.

Do I get prints of the photos?

The full high resolution retouched photographs will be uploaded onto Flickr.com.

If you want prints, you can order prints directly from the Flickr website or you can download the images, take them to a photo center and have prints made.

If you order prints online, it is very inexpensively and actually cheaper than having them printed at Walmart.

How long before my photos will be ready?

Usually no more than 7 days. Sometimes much more quickly and in rare cases, retouch can take up to 14 days.

Do I need modeling experience?

No. Most of my paying clients are everyday people with no modeling experience. I can help you pose in such a way to make you look the most flattering, etc.

If I bring a friend, will you take photos of both of us?

Periodically, I’ve agreed to do that and it’s usually problematic.

Although fun, good photography is work and it does require concentration. It takes a while for a photographer and model to build up a rapport. The more focused the photographer and model are together, the better photographs.

Shooting two or more people at once or switching back and forth between models in a single shoot usually results in two sets of just ok pictures. Shooting a single model the entire time usually results in awesome pictures.

For this reason I usually prefer to photograph only one person per shoot.

Can I bring a friend or escort along?

The short answer is “absolutely yes”.

Keep in mind that anytime someone else comes along to a shoot, be it another model, another photographer, a busybody make-up artist, a friend or an escort, that they are always distracting to both the photographer and model. Great pictures require concentration and focus. Pictures are always better without any distractions whatsoever.

If however, you are uncomfortable coming by yourself, then by all means you are welcome to bring an escort. I would much rather have someone show up for an appointment with an escort than chicken out and not show up for the appointment at all.

Are you a professional?

Absolutely. I have done videography and photography professionally for more than four years. I have done professional multimedia and graphics design for 10 years. I was a fine arts major in college and have been involved in visual fine arts for more than 20 years.

What will you do with the photographs of me?

Photos taken in a TF (free) shoot are only used to help promote my business. I do not sell the photographs, put them on a pay for view website, etc. Most likely the best photos will wind up on my photography business website, maybe 1 picture on my ModelMayhem portfolio, all retouched pictures will appear on my Flickr archive and a few photos will appear on the Facebook page for my business.

Will I sign a model release?

Always. The release I use protects both me as the photographer and you as the model. It states the images cannot be used commercially by either party. You are however free to use the images for your portfolio or to promote your career.

How old do I need to be?

You must be 18 to legally sign a model release. For a photographer to shoot an underage person, the parent or legal guardian has to sign the model release and be present during the photo shoot. As a general rule, I only photograph minors in paid shots.

How many outfits should I bring?

A bunch! In a typical shoot, I can shoot 3 or 4 different outfits. If you bring 10, we will pick the 4 that looks best on you and use them. It’s always better to err in the direction of bringing too much. Below are some photos from a single photo shoot. Notice there are four different outfits and three different shooting locations.

Is there anything else I should bring?

Brings your ID card or driver’s license as proof of age.

If we are doing an on location shoot outside, it’s best to bring a pair of flat shoes to walk around in. If you are doing a shoot which involves water please bring a towel and a plastic bag to carry you wet clothes in after the shoot. It’s also a good idea to bring a hair brush.

Will you provide a hair stylist or make up artists?

For TF Shoots, No. Since I’m not making any money directly from the photographs I don’t have a reason to invest in a make up artist or hair stylists.

For paid shoots I can arrange a make up artists at cost.

Can I get naked?

Nah. I never shoot actual nudes in TF (free) photo shoots. On rare occasions I will do implied nudes with a model if they request it but I have no use for nude photographs.

What if I have safety concerns?

New models sometimes have safety concerns when first shooting with a new photographer. It’s perfectly valid to have some concern but the fact is I’m 100 percent professional and there aren’t any safety issues.

If you’re really that worried about it you have some different options;

A) Bring an escort or friend along with you.
B) I’ll attach some model reference to the bottom of this document. Feel free to call or email any of the models and ask about me.
C) If you would like to talk to me on the phone to see if I sound creepy or not, feel free to give me a call.
D) If you would like to meet me prior to the actual shoot, I’ll set an appointment for you to come into my office during normal business hours and you can meet me.

The facts are;

A) I have never failed to show up for appointment someone has set with me.
B) I have photographed well over a 100 models.
C) Every single model survived.
D) No one has ever complained about me being inappropriate or dangerous.
E) Every one that shows up for an appointment gets great photos of themselves.
F) People that don’t show up don’t get photos.

What if I need to reschedule?

Unfortunately, a percentage of new models sometimes get skittish, chicken out or have a bad hair day and decide to not show up for a scheduled photo shoot. This is a common problem for photographers even when being paid.

Sometimes there really are family emergencies so if someone needs to reschedule, I will allow them to do so once. To avoid flakes, I will only reschedule someone once. If you don’t make it to the second appointment, you will not be offered a third opportunity.

If you do need to reschedule, please give me as much advanced notice as possible.

What if I have other questions?

Please feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call. I would be more than happy to answer your questions.
